Fashion Draping on the Stand Intensive Summer Course

Language of instruction: English

Fashion draping is an important part of fashion design. In high fashion, couture fashion houses, evening, and lingerie companies most garments are created through draping. It is a key skill which allows apparel designers to understand what creates a great fit and how to achieve it. Draping for fashion design is the process of positioning and pinning fabric on a dress form to develop the structure of a garment design.

OUTLINE

The Intensive Course in Fashion Draping on the Stand aims at developing a specific technical competence: working directly in three dimensions on the stand. During the course students will learn and apply a variety of draping techniques through the direct approach working on shapes, textures and volumes. Students will work in muslin on industry dress forms, and drape several silhouettes of skirts, blouses, bodies, jackets and collars.
